Happy Black Friday

Arrgh, just shoot me in the head right now. Every year, I swear that I am not going to get up early to hit the post-Thanksgiving sales. This year, I really meant it. I absolutely WAS NOT going to get caught up in that mad rush of lemmings all blithely rushing around for deals on stuff, just stuff. And then...I saw a Wal-Mart sales paper. Damn Wal-Mart! Why oh why did it have to put GI Joe and Star Trek on sale for $9 each. See, that's the way to make a movie junkie like me lose her bleeding mind and go rushing out before the sun comes up, still wearing my pjs by the way. Well, guess what I didn't get? Yep, you're right. By the time I got into the store, all the $9 copies had been snatched up. I figured it was best to leave before I completely lost it and bludgeoned somebody with one of the $4 copies of Breaking Dawn (It's big enough to actually do some damage!)

So, how about you...did you stay all snug and warm in your bed this morning or did you get up and brave the craziness? If so, what sort of deals did you luck upon?

  1. Well,
We had a pretty chaotic day yesterday at my German grandparents' house in Muscle Shoals, AL. Our family is notorious for being late to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and pretty much every get together. BUT! We shocked my Oma and Opa by being there a HALF AN HOUR EARLY!!! ... at 9:30. We had a wonderful day with my uncle and cousin, my grandparents' housekeeper, and her husband. We played Harry Potter Scene It.. the 2nd Edition, Yahtzee Free For All, and Clue (the DVD game). Needless to say, after all the pecan pie and cheesecake, I took it easy today. We usually do our shopping late..lol. I finished up a special novel that I'm reading (...;)....), and I thought I'd check out this neat website. LOL.. it's great! So, no shopping for me. My PJ's are just too warm.

  2. See Maria, I should have gone with you. I can kick butt at Harry Potter Scene It. The Harry Potter Clue game is on my christmas list- but I probably won't get it :( Plus, I can just about eat my weight in cheesecake, especially if it has strawberry or blueberry topping on it YUMMY

  3. I was somehow talked into going with my mother to Florence, Al to brave black friday. I quickly played the "dumb card" as soon as we arrived in the mall parking lot at 4 a.m. After an hour of wandering around as if I knew absolutely nothing about shopping, I was allowed to go sleep in the car and wake up only to retrieve the bags she could no longer carry. So I woke up at 3 a.m. to sleep in a mall parking lot and carry bags. FUN :)

  4. Lol, poor Joel. I hate carrying bags after Christmas shopping. But sleeping is always fun, lol. I like playing the "dumb card" too. But it doesn't usually work.....and yes, you should have gone with me, Ms. Shelton... I can't remember all the Harry Potter stuff. It's been so long since I've seen some of the movies.

  5. Poor Joel! But it could have been worse. It could have been freezing or pouring down rain. And at least your mom let you play the dumb card- she could have forced you to run interference for her through the crazy crowds!

  6. Maria, every so often, Caitlin and I get bored and just have movie-a-thons...HP-a-thons, Buffy-a-thons and Star Wars-a-thons (my personal fave). Plus, for some crazy reason, all that Jeopardy crap just rattles around in my head so I'm good at games like that. Can't add worth a crap but I'm good at trivia :)
